This will be a walk that will take us to see the area where heather charcoal was formerly produced to supply Manteigas village. We begin to climb through forests of pseudotsugas, chestnut trees and centuries-old beech trees that will accompany us to Penhas Douradas. This small mountain village, once known for treating respiratory diseases, will be our gateway to the higher altitude area where trees give way to shrubs and cliffs of all shapes and sizes.
After passing through the Fragão do Corvo viewpoint to admire the landscape over the glacial valley and the village of Manteigas, we resumed our path towards the famous Nave Mestra fissure.
From here we begin our descent back to the starting point, accompanied by the majestic landscape of the Zêzere glacial valley, which we will have the opportunity to appreciate throughout the entire route.
