We begin our route at the Sanctuary of Senhora do Desterro, from where we will head towards the famous Cabeça da Velha, one of the landmarks of the Serra da Estrela, which resembles the head of an elderly woman, more or less toothless depending on the day...
After enjoying the views from the chapel of Senhor do Calvário, we will descend again through the Desterro forest to reach the banks of the Alva river, where we will begin following an old water transport channel until we reach the river beach of Lapa dos Dinheiros.
It is time to take a dip and the opportunity to refresh our hearts and souls in these invigorating waters!
Crossing chestnut groves and woods, we visit the village of Lapa dos Dinheiros, preparing ourselves for slightly more technical trails, before reaching one of the highlights of our hike, the "Cornos do Diabo". This famous rock formation, around 6 metres high, which resembles a representation of the devil, often goes unnoticed by those who are not paying attention.
We continue on our way and, before we know it, we will be back at the Sanctuary of Senhora do Desterro and the banks of the Alva river.
