Granja's water paths

2026-06-14

Life moves slowly around here, between the fields, the mountains, and the river; tranquility can be felt in these parts.

Starting from the small village of Granja, we will soon find small agricultural fields where potatoes, cabbages, and vines are the focus of attention. Forested areas, dominated by pine and oak groves, also occupy a large part of these slopes, although they are not as abundant as they once were.

We descend a little to find the waters of the Mau river, which leads us to an old irrigation channel that we will follow for some time. Built in bygone times, this channel guided the water to an old mill that we can visit along the way.

Soon after jumping over some "River Stones" and crossing the Mau River, we begin to climb to better explore the higher parts of these areas and appreciate the views of the Paiva River valley.

This time, we descend to the banks of the Paiva, which we will follow for a few kilometers, and where the bravest can take a dip to refresh body and soul.

Almost without realizing it, the distant village of Granja appears before us, and we are back at our meeting point.
