Iron Way and Almond Tree Bloom

On Saturday we will have a 17 km hike, of difficulty level 2, that will introduce us to the famous "Camino del Hierro".

This route follows the old railway line between Fregeneda and Barca d'Alva, which was built at the end of the 19th century. This is a route of extraordinary beauty that combines some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region with an incredible work of engineering. Along these 17 km we will travel through 20 tunnels and many other bridges, some at great height.

To make the route even more interesting, the fauna and flora of this natural park are truly unique and you can observe countless vultures sharing the skies with species such as the Bonelli's Eagle or the Golden Eagle.

On Sunday we will have a route of around 9 km, of difficulty level 3, that will take us along two medieval sidewalks hidden in the valley of the Ribeira do Mosteiro in the heart of the Douro Internacional Natural Park.

We will start with an open valley where we can enjoy the view over the Douro River and some terraces with orange orchards and beautiful flowering almond groves. As we go up the river, the valley closes and the rocky cliffs impose themselves on the landscape.

In the air, the company of huge and silent griffins is constant, always attentive to our steps. The descent is made along the Santa Ana's path that take us back to the starting point.
