This will truly be a journey of discovery. Discovering a remarkably well-preserved natural area, the pleasure of being immersed in nature, and the balance between human activity and the natural landscape. Monfragüe offers all this and much more waiting to be explored...
We begin with a friendly dinner to kick off our long-weekend program. It’s a chance for us to get to know one another and share details about the days of adventure and discovery ahead.
On the first day, we will hike a route of approximately 15 kilometers to explore the "Garganta del Fraile". We will discover waterfalls, ancient bridges, cultivated fields, and breathtaking cliffs. Along the way, we will pass through beautiful forests where oak and strawberry trees dominate the landscape. Naturally, we will be accompanied by griffon vultures, ever-watchful of our movements.

The second day is dedicated to hiking along the banks of the Tejo River. Over a 10-kilometer route, we will follow the river and admire the "Salto del Gitano" (Gypsy’s Leap), one of the park’s landmarks and an ideal spot for observing griffon vultures and other cliff-dwelling bird species. We will also visit Monfragüe Castle to take in the magnificent scenery and appreciate the harmony between the natural and human-influenced landscapes.

Finally, we will take a shorter hike—fitting, given it is our departure day—though it is no less beautiful. We will visit the village of Villarreal de San Carlos, with its traditional cottages, walk along forest paths, and, with a bit of luck, spot some of the deer that roam freely in the area.
