On this hike, we will discover two of the most beautiful river beaches in the Serra da Estrela region.
We set off from the small village of Vila Cova à Coelheira and begin our ascent along the right bank of the Alva River.
Winding through oak and maple forests, the route leads us to explore some of the lesser-known paths of the Estrela mountains.
We climb up to the Jugueiros Bridge, where we will see the famous hydroelectric power plant that has been in operation since 1923.
Ascending a little further, we reach one of the country's most beautiful river beaches, located near Lapa dos Dinheiros. Here, we take the opportunity to rest and enjoy a refreshing dip—a well-earned reward for the climb.
After exploring this lovely mountain village, we continue along small paths amidst terraced fields, heading back to our starting point.
We return to the banks of the Alva and, before taking another dip, we follow a beautiful riverside trail shaded by lovely alder and willow trees
