Spring in Freita Mountain

From May 15th to 17th, we will have a wonderful opportunity to visit the Serra da Freita mountain range in its full splendor of colors and flowers. It is at this time of year that gorse, heather, and broom come together in an effort to make these mountains and slopes even more magical and vibrant.

Day 1:
Our weekend begins with a lovely dinner where we will have the opportunity to get to know each other better and share some information about the program for the coming days.

Day 2:
This day will be dedicated to one of the most beautiful trails that the Serra da Freita has to offer: the Postman's Trail. Legend has it that a postman once traveled these small, winding trails to deliver mail to these isolated villages in these mountains. An enchanting trail but with a higher degree of difficulty, it will be 14 kilometers long with a cumulative ascent of about 900 meters.

On our way back to the hotel, we will also have time to stop and visit the Casa das Pedras Parideiras (House of the Parturient Stones) to learn about this unique geological phenomenon.

Day 3:
Today, we will hike the slopes of Mizarela, a classic trail here in a revised and extended version. It will be a 10-kilometer trail with a positive elevation gain of 500 meters, which will lead us to what may be the highest waterfall in Portugal. In addition to the waterfall, we will also follow the Caima River and a small irrigation channel in the plateau area of ​​this magical and colorful mountain range.
