From October 10th to 15th we will walk the Camino Real de Santiago.
Starting from Ourense, we will have 117 kilometers divided into 5 days of walking, to discover this route still unknown to most of us.
This route is actually the final part of the “Via de la Plata” which from Ourense intersects with an old royal road used to transport goods between the two cities. Crossing immense areas of oak forests that hide several monasteries and small villages, these days of walking become even more special, inviting reflection and coexistence with nature.
On Friday 10th we will travel from Santiago de Compostela towards Ourense where we will spend the night and explore the old part of the city.
The first stage of 24 km and 600 meters of positive elevation gain will connect Ourense to Cea.
A stage with a more urban first phase that gradually gives way to the famous oak forests of this region.
On the second day we will connect Cea to O Castro, traveling 23 kilometers, passing by mills, streams and a beautiful monastery in the middle of the forest.
From O castro we set off on the longest stage that will take us to Silleda. A long stage, but with less accumulated elevation gain (450 m), where the oak forests give way to green pastures.
Between Sillleda and Outeiro we will have 25 km to cover with less uneven and less wooded terrain.
Almost with Santiago in sight in the last stage we have 17 kilometers and with a last climb towards the city's cathedral.
