Varzielas stream mills

Leaving the Oliveira de Frades sports park, we begin by descending towards the banks of the Vouga River, passing through a forest of oak and chestnut trees. Once we reach the banks of the Vouga, we will follow its riverbed to the Cunhedo bridge, following the river to the mouth of the Varzielas stream.

We begin to climb the banks of this small but charming watercourse and discover small and large waterfalls, several small rivers to cross its bed, and several old mills that testify to the importance of this river for the people of Souto de Lafões, whom we will meet later. 

From here we pass through agricultural land that will give way to dense forests of oaks and cork oaks that will accompany us to our meeting point.
