Shall we climb to the highest point in mainland Portugal? This time the challenge will be to ascend the tower through the glacial valley of the Zêzere river.
After meeting at Torre, our transport will take us to the beautiful village of Manteigas, from where we will start this adventure.
Right outside the village, we will encounter the magnificent "U"-shaped valley that glaciers have been eroding for millions of years.
We will follow the Zêzere river, which flows fresh and crystal clear between enormous granite blocks.
We arrive at the enchanting Covão da Ametade, at the base of the famous Cântaros, where the lush green grass and the shade of the birch trees invite a brief rest.
We continue to climb until we reach the Nave de Santo António, from where we will depart for the most challenging segment with the greatest elevation gain! Ahead of us is the Covão do Ferro, with its dam framed by the rugged granite slopes that reveal the proximity of the Torre.
We still have time to visit the image of Our Lady of the Estrela and Covão dos Bois before the final climb and arrival at Torre.
